Stevenage Chess Club

About us:

Stevenage Chess Club participate in the competitions organised by the Hertfordshire Chess Association, and welcome chess players of all standards from beginners to experts.

When:

The club meets routinely every Monday from 19:30 to 22:30 (except on bank holidays) from September through to the end of June.

The club re-opened on Monday 2nd September.

Stevenage United Reformed Church is located close to the town centre of Stevenage, less than 10 minutes walk from the railway station, and close to the main bus routes.

Coming by car, turn left from the southbound carriageway of St George's Way into Cuttys Lane, and the church car park is at the top of Cuttys Lane on the left. From Bedwell Crescent, turn into Cuttys Lane, and the church car park is immediately on your right.

The chess club can be found in The Annexe on the right as you enter the car park.

Club fees:

There's no initial charges for new members, simply turn up at the club on a Monday night to see if you like it.

To play at the club regularly, please join the club to help cover our expenses. The fees for the Sep 2024-Jun 2025 season are:

£50/year for those in full time work
£30/year if you are retired or unemployed
£20/year if you are in education and over 18
No charge for those under 18

There's a discount if you join half way through the season.
